Things I dislike, vol. 1
It kind of annoys me when people say things such as, "You better be careful, or you're going to be sleeping on the couch tonight." Etc. Not sure why this annoys me. Maybe it's because no one is actually sleeping on the couch. Ever. I can never think of a time where Anna is going to force me to sleep on the couch and that I'm going to go willingly sleep there. We have a big bed, if we're not getting along I'll just mosey on over to my side. I don't recall my dad ever sleeping on the couch for misbehaving, and I don't predict I'll ever be in that position. Furthermore, what are these people saying that is causing them to end up on the couch. I feel free to speak my mind to my spouse with no real consequence. As Anna can attest, I often get nervous looks from our friends after some comment. And I think to myself, "What, do they think I'm going to have to end up on the couch tonight?" If anything, I'll make Anna sleep on the couch. And I can confidently say that with no worry that I'll be sleeping on the couch tonight.

Here come the soapboxes....
ReplyDeleteWhy would either of us sleep on the couch? We have a guest bedroom with a queen size bed in it?
The phrase "sleeping on the couch" has such a nice, heavy, symbolic ring to it. And it is a step up from being "in the doghouse".
ReplyDeleteI love sleeping on the couch. We have a huge microfiber sectional, right in front of the tv. I try to sleep on it at least a few times a week.
ReplyDeleteTim, you know that my dad sleeps on the couch regularly and has for as long as i can remember...
